When we told the girl we were planning on going to St. George for Spring Break, they were so excited to see the desert! (Little do they know that we live in a desert...a cold desert but a desert none the less.) Tessa begged us before we even left to PLEASE take her to see some cactus. She wanted to see the kind like the Taco Time sign, but they don't have that kind here. But she was quite satisfied with these varieties. The morning after we got there the first thing we did was drive east toward Gunlock to see the fields of cactus.

The girls, although super excited to see cacti, were very scared of them. At home they kept saying, "I WILL NOT touch one because they will poke me." So once we got out there I had to show them that they were pretty safe, and nothing to be afraid of. We touched the pokey parts on several different kinds of cacti and saw that they wouldn't hurt us.
