We have been having a lot of rain lately, especially for a Wyoming Fall. We are usually quite dry, living in a desert. Yesterday was the heaviest rain storm I have ever seen in this town, ever, and I have lived here most of my life.
The underpass was the worst. The flooding was at least 10 ft high. Believe it or not, there is a full sized work truck under that bridge, covered in water. The driver thought his truck would make it, but he got stuck. He got out safely, but couldn't get his truck out, and it quickly got covered completely.
It drew a lot of spectators, including us. We live just down the road, and had to go see it. Josh brought his RC boat, and everyone thought it was awesome. A woman also decided it would be fun to take a dip in the water in her bikini. She was quickly asked to get out of the water-for her own safety. While we were there the water continued to rise. Before we left it was clear up to the barricades.
As far as I know everyone is safe. There has been some minor flooding of downtown businesses, and basements. We opened our basement entry door, and there was water clear to the door. We caught it just in time, before it came into the house. We removed 35-50 gallons of water with our shop vac.
We woke up today and it is STILL raining. But we are fine. No flooding. It's been quite an adventure! Hopefully this is installment 1 of 1 on this subject.
We are loving the rain, and the amazing thunder and lightening storms, but I don't want to be blogging any more "big" new about it. :)
